RIG SITE
SURVEY

After over thirty years inspecting rigs worldwide you can imagine we’ve gained quite a reputation! The words consistently used by our clients to underpin this reputation are professionalism, experience, attention to detail, collaboration and detailed quality reporting.

We are proud of our independent status and approach to technical audit, survey and inspection, which helps us work collaboratively as part of a team with Operators and Drilling Contractors alike. In practice, we apply sound engineering judgement and common sense when assessing the potential risks and the resultant actions required, while at all times adhering to industry and legislative standards.

Our inspection experience not only spans the full spectrum of operating rigs, from compound (mechanical) drive land rigs to 6th and 7th Generation drilling operations as well as Class 3 dynamically positioned drill ships, but also enables us to deliver inspections, technical audits and surveys of the highest standard, by firstly insisting on understanding our client's operational requirements and then applying five interrogations, which form the foundation of every rig equipment survey we undertake:

FUNCTIONALITY
What the equipment is required to do in order to establish and maintain integrity.

AVAILABILITY
The ability of an item to be in a state to perform a required function under given conditions at a given instant of time, or on average over a given time.

RELIABILITY
The probability that the equipment will operate on demand when required to maintain integrity.

SURVIVABILITY
The ability of a component, a piece of equipment or a system to remain functional for a specified period when under attack from identified external loading events associated with a major accident

INTERACTIONS
Interactions and dependencies with other equipment that is critical for functionality.

Lastly, we believe that all activities undertaken during the downtime window need to be as efficient and effective as possible, so as to achieve maximum results within the smallest time frame. It is because of this fundamental requirement, that all ADC inspections, audits and surveys utilise the unique TRAMS rapid reporting system, providing direct and prompt feedback to enable agreed early repair and rectification of any non-conformances identified.

ADC RIG INSPECTIONS COVER ALL ASPECTS OF A RIG'S LIFE

ADC’s Rig Site Team are experts in gathering the material required to support your well planning and well drilling submissions where you are required to present material for a review by the Authorities, Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) which may also include their Offshore Safety Directive Regulator (OSDR) partner, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

Below is an outline of current requirements which our specialist team can help you with:

Drilling Unit Tendering, Selection & Acceptance
Provide details of the OPERATOR process for DRILLING RIG selection and acceptance and demonstrate how conformance with the process is achieved. Also provide copies of any condition surveys and audits, that have been conducted as part of the DRILLING RIG acceptance process, and the criteria to be used for determining what survey / audit findings and actions are required to be closed out, prior to operations being allowed to commence.

Maintenance Management
OPERATOR must demonstrate that equipment on-board the DRILLING RIG is being appropriately inspected and maintained. You must ensure there is an appropriate maintenance management system operating for safety and environmental critical elements within the DRILLING RIG owner's maintenance system.
